The Mexican Culture

The Mexican culture is very unique and beautiful. When people think of Mexican food the first thing that should pop up in their heads is tortillas and beans because Mexicans eat tortillas and beans in every meal. They don’t only eat those two things, but they are a huge part of their meals. Mexicans also eat other things such as, posole, tamales, tacos, tostadas, quesadillas, and rice. The list of Mexican food could continue on forever, but those foods are very popular in the Mexican culture. The thing they love to drink the most is soda, specifically Coca Cola.
Mexicans know how to throw parties, and they will throw a party every opportunity they get. For example, if someone in the family is graduating preschool they throw a big party as if someone was getting married. At Mexican parties they usually serve barbacoa, sopa fria, and frijoles or they serve posole with chips. You will also see a bounce house and a lot of decorations. They usually provide a DJ to play the music at their parties. By the end of the night every adult is drunk and the crazy uncle tries to start a fight. The police usually show up around ten at night because the music is “too” loud and they get a warning and have to turn it down in order to continue to party. One very popular type of party is a Quinceanera. A Quinceanera is when a little girl turns into a young woman, it’s when a girl turns fifteen. For a Quinceanera they go over board and spend thousands of dollars and invite the whole world (not literally), but almost. Okay, that was a joke.
Most Mexicans are super religious, generally practicing Catholicism. Mexicans speak Spanish and also listen to Spanish music like banda and mariachi. Some of the different types of art that Mexicans create is clay pottery and basket weaving. Most art that is done in Mexico is very colorful and usually has a lot of patterns. Mexican women usually wear dresses and Mexican men usually wear jeans with a cape looking thing that is known as a sarape. Lastly, some holidays Mexicans celebrate include The Day of The Dead also known as Dia de Los Muertos, Independence Day, and Cinco de Mayo.
I am Mexican. Everything that I described above is basically everything that I’ve experienced at least once through my lifetime. I’ve ate all of the foods that I listed previously and I have experienced a big Mexican party. In fact I myself had a Quinceanera and my parents went all out. I speak Spanish and I love Mexican music. A typical day for me when I don’t have class consists  of waking up early, getting ready for the day, helping my mom make breakfast (usually eggs and a side), and cleaning because my mom is one of those moms that doesn’t like seeing her daughters sitting around. My parents are strict with me because of what their culture has made them believe and I do have to follow rules. When there is nothing to do, I listen to music and play with my niece and nephew. When it’s lunch time my mom usually makes something that includes a tortilla, she’s really big on frying food. We don’t watch much television, we’re more of the listening to music type of people. For dinner my mom makes foods like tacos or whatever someone suggests. Nothing special really goes on throughout my days, unless there is a party that I get invited to. I am Catholic and church time is usually on Sundays. To end my day I lay in bed on my phone for a couple of hours and don’t usually go to bed until it is really late. Then the next day begins. 1. Your post got to my attention because my culture is also Mexican, I can relate to everything you’ve experienced as well. I love how well you described everything in just one paragraph because it sums up the Mexican culture. My parents are also strict and I have to obey their rules and my mom doesn’t like me being lazy either, I’m always helping her with the chores around the house. My family is always throwing parties for any occasion as well and make it a big party. We also go to a catholic church on Sundays. It’s so interesting to see that our Mexican culture is pretty identical and we have experienced the same things. I love everything about our culture, especially the food!
